Wedding photography is a rather polarizing genre that many people warn against getting involved because of their pressures and expectations. But for those who have an interest in it but might be put off by its demands, there is another option: to be a second shooter. This excellent video explains five reasons why being a second shooter might be your best bet.

This interesting video essay brought to you by John Branch IV Photography explains why it is often better to be a second shooter to work in wedding photography. Undoubtedly, you won’t make as much money as a full-time wedding photographer as a second shooter, but then again, you won’t have to deal with all of the hassles that come with running a wedding photography business. I have a couple of friends who shoot second time on the weekends and they love the fact that they can hand over the memory cards and not have to go through the hassle of sorting out thousands of shots and editing hundreds of them or the ones associated with them Pressure to be the main point of contact. If you’re looking to make a little extra cash, it’s a good idea to speak to a wedding photographer about whether or not you want to join them. Check out the video above for the full overview.
