Thane / Palghar, April 6 (PTI) The agency in Kalyan city, Thane district in Maharashtra has sealed two wedding venues for alleged violations of COVID-19 safety standards, an official said Tuesday.
According to a press release from the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), COVID-19 norms were violated during an April 3 wedding.
The guests did not wear masks, maintained social distance and that day around 900 to 1,000 people were present for the event, it said.
A criminal offense was recorded against the wedding reception and the manager of the venue at the Mahatma Phule Police Station under the relevant sections of the IPC and applicable laws.
Community Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi took the injury seriously and ordered two lawns to be closed by April 30th.
Officials also cracked down on an open-air wedding in Kolegaon, where around 150 people were in attendance Monday.
The KDMC has also sealed five stores, a social club, a supermarket and two wine stores for violating the COVID-19 protocols.
In Palghar, the district’s land police have recorded six weddings violating safety instructions of COVID-19 since April 1.
Hundreds of guests attended the violating instructions and did not follow safety norms during the event, said PRO Police Officer Sachin Navadkar. PTI COR ARU ARU
