New Delhi: Representatives of wedding locations, hotels and event operators have sent a joint petition to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal to allow wedding locations to operate with all Covid protocols.
In the letter, they stated that they would face great losses if a decision is not made soon about the number of guests and the operation of the wedding venues. “After July, there are no promising wedding dates for the next three months. All April weddings have also been postponed due to lockdown and people are considering canceling and extending their bookings due to the guest limit. This is a really tough time for us, ”said Rajeev Jain of the Event and Entertainment Management Association.
Sanjay Khullar, President of the Delhi Catering Association, made a similar statement. “Our industry has suffered great losses in the past two years and survival has become difficult. People even lose jobs. We asked for a full operation of wedding locations. Thousands of people are already walking into malls and trains every day, ”he said.
The representatives of these associations have also communicated a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to the officials, which they undertake to adhere to. You have assured the authorities that you will follow the 3-square-meter formula at social gatherings. “That is, if a client plans to host a wedding with 500 guests, the venue will be 1,500 square meters,” said Vijay Arora of the Venue Operators’ Management Association.
In addition to the regular disinfection of the wedding locations, the associations are ready to create buffer zones between the main entrances to the hotels and the banquet hall so that there are no long traffic jams in front of them. Disinfecting vehicle exterior surfaces, contactless temperature control of the guests and the strict implementation of the Covid standards were among other things mentioned in the SOP. Guests were also informed verbally and digitally about precautions, social distancing, etc., the representatives said.
“The SOP also includes standards for the kitchen area, food serving staff, washroom areas, and preparation and follow-up arrangements. We have tried to make an appointment with LG and CM and hope that they will at least hear our requests, ”said Rajeev Jain.
