In Shakespeare’s words, “True love never ran smoothly,” and couples have embarked on a new path to their wedding with the intimate get-togethers now known as “micro-weddings.”
These weddings typically have fewer than 25 guests, including the couple, and are perfect for couples who don’t want to wait to celebrate their love until things “get back to normal”. You’re still walking down the aisle, having the reception and the special moments of a wedding, but on a much smaller – and safer – scale.
Disney Springs is a one-of-a-kind place where couples can find the perfect micro-wedding setup at Paddlefish and Terralina Crafted Italian. Both restaurants have private or semi-private spaces, as well as in-house food and drink professionals, so you can toast your marriage. Just add in some of the best local Orlando wedding vendors and you have the ingredients for an event to remember.
Loosely inspired by Disney movies, these two styled wedding shoots show how beautiful and magical a micro-wedding can be.

Riverboat romance
With quirky elements inspired by Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, Paddlefish was the perfect location for this southern-style soiree. The setting is on the rooftop terrace of the upscale seafood restaurant with a riverboat theme and offers breathtaking views of Lake Buena Vista and Disney Springs. A lush flower garland made of peonies and seed eucalyptus was wrapped around the boat railing for additional ambience.
At Paddlefish, the tables and chairs are included in the event fee, and the space can comfortably seat up to 40 people in a socially detached setting. The table landscape shown is bursting with romance with mismatched candles, green garland and a delicate table runner. For the dessert exhibition, a flower wall tied the table landscapes together with the presentation of the one-tier wedding cake and the custom sweets.
To top it off, a classical brass band provided entertainment, and the “Tiana” wedding dress from the Allure x Disney Weddings bridal collection was a perfect reminder of the opulence, panache and elegance of jazz.

The sweet life
(PHOTOGRAPHY BY EMMA ANNE PHOTO)
The most romantic scene in Disney’s Lady and the Tramp was the theme of this ceremony at the Terralina Crafted Italian restaurant.
The setting was intimate with a view of sister restaurant Paddlefish and Saratoga Springs Resort across the lagoon. The floral arrangements, highlighted by white hydrangeas, fell over the lampposts, combining the romance of an English garden with the elegance of an Italian piazza.
The restaurant’s semi-private conservatory is reminiscent of the rustic comfort of the Italian Lake District, with beams spanning the high ceiling and double French doors giving the couple a dramatic post-i-do entrance. Tables were set for an intimate group of 12, and the custom stationery and candy display featured Lady and the Tramp.

One of the best things about a micro wedding is the personal attention you can give to each guest. For this wedding, a local artist paints hand-painted watercolor portraits of each guest – a live entertainment experience that doubled as a wedding favor.
After a menu with fresh pasta, pizza from the restaurant’s brick oven and first-class Italian vino, the event ended with an eye-catching treat – a dark blue wedding cake and individually decorated biscuits.
