Great news for wedding venues on Long Island and across the state.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on Friday announced new measures to increase the seating capacity for receptions to 50 percent, with a limit of 150 guests. Current restrictions are 50 people per reception.
The state’s new rule goes into effect March 15 and includes an important clause: Every guest must be tested by a local health department before the event, Cuomo said during a press conference in Albany.
According to reports, New York is working on an app that will list the names of the guests tested.
Cuomo also announced plans on Friday to reopen indoor dining in New York City with 25 percent capacity on Valentine’s Day, February 14.
Nationwide, COVID-19 cases have been falling for a few weeks. During the vacation, the region’s COVID-19 positivity rate rose over 7 percent.
To date, there have been 12,579 new positive cases in the state with a positivity rate of 4.65 percent.
