The spring and summer months always seem to be the most popular for a wedding. After the showers in April, the May flowers immediately create a romantic mood, while the summer sun always sets a joyous tone. But not every bride dreams of getting married on a warm, breezy day or on a mild evening. Some dream of saying “I’ll do” when the air is cold, perhaps in an outdoor winter wonderland among the snowflakes, with a view of snow-capped mountains, or an intimate get-together with a swanky vacation theme. For such an occasion, a winter wedding dress is of course essential. So we’ve discovered some of our favorites, from gorgeous budget purchases to ultra-dreamy designs.
Not all winter wedding dresses are created equal. This largely depends on the style of your wedding, the venue, and your bridal tastes. A high neck or open back long sleeve crepe dress is spectacular if you’re the type to keep things classic and possibly minimal. For more traditional tastes, lace is always stunning, as are layers of tulle and intricate beadwork. For the bohemian sensibility, tiers of ruffles, crochet lace, and elegant embroidery are divine details, especially with wispy fabrics as part of the equation. For a more casual and intimate winter wedding, a retro-inspired design like a tea-length dress is just chic, while ultra-luxurious details like metal fabrics, rhinestones and feathers are just the thing for an evening holiday-themed wedding.
